Simple Syrup
 
A variety of beverages call for sweetening to offset the tartness of some juices used in the drink recipes. Granulated sugar does not dissolve easily in cold drinks or ethyl alcohol. Since simple syrup is liquid, it is easily mixed with other liquids in drinks, making them superior alternatives to granulated sugar.
Ingredients
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
Instructions
  1. Place water and sugar in a saucepan, bring to boil. Continue at a simmer until syrup is clear.
  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
